Ford Issues Fresh Recalls for 777,000 Trucks and SUVs

Ford Motor Company has announced two new safety recalls covering roughly 777,000 vehicles across its lineup, including its bestselling F-150 pickup, the rugged Bronco SUV, and the luxury Lincoln Navigator. The recalls target issues found in popular models that could pose risks on the road.

The larger of the two recalls involves around 552,000 F-150 trucks from the 2014 model year. A problem with the transmission downshift module can cause the vehicle to unexpectedly drop into first gear, regardless of speed, increasing the chance of a crash. Ford says it is aware of several reports of injuries and property damage linked to this defect.

The second recall covers about 225,000 vehicles, including the 2021-2024 Bronco and the 2022-2024 Navigator. Here, a software glitch in the rearview camera system can cause the display to go dark when the driver shifts into reverse, reducing visibility behind the vehicle. Ford will notify owners starting in late April, and dealers will update the software or replace affected parts at no charge.
