Ford Exec Hints a Four-Door Mustang Sedan Is Finally on the Table

For decades, the idea of a four-door Mustang has been a ghost haunting the Ford lineup—tantalizingly close, but never quite real. In 1965, Ford actually built one but never sold it. 0-liter V-8, offering a taste of pony-car practicality. Now, a top Ford executive has revived the speculation with some pointed comments.

Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e, told Automotive News that the company is actively thinking about expanding the Mustang family. While the current lineup includes the two-door coupe, convertible, and the all-electric Mach-E crossover, Frick acknowledged that a sedan still has a place.

“There is a percentage of the customer base that still buys sedans,” he said.

” That comment, paired with Ford’s 2024 trademark filing for the name “Mach 4,” suggests a production four-door Mustang may be closer than ever. Dealers were reportedly shown a four-door concept two years ago, alongside a performance off-road variant.

A Mustang Mach 4 sedan, riding on an extended Mustang platform, could directly challenge the Dodge Charger. 0-liter Coyote V-8 under the hood would give enthusiasts the rumble they crave, with room for car seats. Or an EcoBoost option could offer a more practical daily driver with serious curb appeal.

Whether a manual transmission would survive is anyone’s guess, but the prospect alone has fans talking.

For now, it’s still speculation. But after nearly 60 years of near-misses, a four-door Mustang might finally be ready to leave the concept stage. And if you’re dreaming of owning one—or just keeping your current ride running until it arrives—Boca Auto Care in Boca Raton has you covered.
