Ford and Lincoln’s New AI Assistant Turns Your Owner’s Manual Into a Chatbot

Ford and Lincoln are rolling out an AI-powered assistant that works like a smart owner’s manual, letting drivers ask questions and get instant answers about their vehicles. The feature is built into the Ford and Lincoln apps and is being introduced to around 8 million customers.

When you open the app, a blue celestial-style icon at the top opens a chat dialog. From there, you can ask about features like BlueCruise hands-free driving or Pro Trailer Backup Assist on the F-150, and the AI responds with detailed instructions. It can also provide specs, such as cargo compartment size, so you can check if that new TV will fit before heading to the store.

The assistant can tap into real-time vehicle data, fuel level, tire pressure, and remaining oil life, giving you a quick health check before a long road trip. ” They also note the AI will be directly integrated into select vehicles by 2027.

Separately, the automaker announced an upgrade to voice assistance in vehicles with the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience. Google Gemini will be offered as an opt-in alternative to the standard Google Assistant, enabling more natural conversations, like sending a text, adjusting climate control, or playing a favorite song.
