Ford and Lincoln Recall 33,000 Vehicles in Canada Over Rollaway Hazard

Ford Motor Company has issued a safety recall affecting roughly 33,000 SUVs and pickup trucks across Canada. The move targets certain Ford and Lincoln models equipped with an electronic parking brake that may fail to engage properly, creating a risk the vehicle could roll away after being parked.

The recall covers a range of popular vehicles, including the 2021 to 2023 Ford Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Escape, Maverick, and F-150, as well as the Lincoln Aviator, Corsair, and Nautilus. According to Transport Canada, a software glitch in the brake control module can prevent the parking brake from activating when the driver shifts into park.

This could allow the vehicle to move unexpectedly, increasing the chance of a crash or injury.

Owners are advised to take their affected vehicles to a dealership, where technicians will update the brake control module software free of charge. Ford has confirmed it is not aware of any accidents or injuries linked to the issue in Canada. S. regulators about a similar problem affecting roughly 300,000 vehicles south of the border.

If you own one of the recalled models and have questions, Boca Auto Care recommends checking your vehicle identification number on Transport Canada’s recall website or contacting your local Ford or Lincoln dealer directly. Staying on top of recalls like this one is a simple but critical step in keeping your family safe on the road.
