Ford Accounts for Over Half of All U.S. Vehicle Recalls

Ford has become the dominant name in American recall statistics, accounting for more than half of all vehicles called back across the country over the past year. 5 million vehicles. S. 7 million units. That puts Ford squarely in the lead, and not in a good way.
The latest recall involves rear seat safety. A potential defect in the driver seat’s power tilt mechanism could cause the seatback to recline unexpectedly, trapping rear passengers. The issue affects 79,579 vehicles, including 64,409 Ford Explorer models and 15,170 Lincoln Aviator units from recent production years.
Ford says the problem doesn’t happen while driving but can occur after a memory seat setting is recalled, even when no one is inside. The seat may continue moving backward, pinning a second-row occupant or blocking their exit.
Engineers traced the root cause to a new supplier that began providing power tilt actuators in late 2025. Only Explorers and Aviators equipped with those specific motors and control modules are affected. Ford is notifying owners and will replace the faulty components free of charge.
The company advises anyone experiencing seat movement without input to contact their dealer immediately. Meanwhile, the recall adds to a growing list of Ford campaigns that have kept service bays busy across the country.
