Dodge Recalls 74,578 Durangos Over Roof Spoiler Issue - Third Time for Same Problem

Dodge has issued another recall for certain Durango SUVs from the 2021 through 2023 model years, this time covering 74,578 vehicles due to a roof spoiler problem. The recall, filed with NHTSA under campaign number 26V528000 on August 13, 2026, affects vehicles built between July 13, 2020, and March 28, 2023.
Dodge says fewer than one percent of those are expected to actually have the defect, and the issue could affect any Durango with a roof spoiler, from the base SXT trim up to the SRT Hellcat.
The problem lies with the roof spoiler, which sits at the top of the tailgate. On affected vehicles, the spoiler may sit slightly too high, causing it to scrape or bump the roof edge when the tailgate is opened or closed. Over time, that can loosen the spoiler, potentially causing it to detach completely and become a road hazard.
Dodge notes that owners might hear the spoiler hitting the roof when using the tailgate, or notice a rattling sound while driving if the spoiler has come loose.
This marks the third recall for the same issue on these model years. The first came in 2021, affecting fewer than 5,000 Durangos. A second recall followed in 2023, involving nearly 140,000 SUVs. Although a fix was applied in those earlier recalls, it has proven insufficient, and many of the same vehicles are now being recalled again.
Dodge attributes the problem not to a specific part but to how the spoiler is installed during production.
The automaker says it is still developing a new, hopefully final remedy and will notify affected owners by mail starting September 10, 2026. For more information, owners can call Dodge's customer service at 1-800-853-1403. The Durango, now in its 17th year on the market, continues to sell well, but the repeated nature of this issue raises questions about why the same problem hasn't been fully resolved after multiple attempts.
