Digital Artist Reimagines the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am for a New Era

The 1977 Pontiac Trans Am holds a special place in automotive history, thanks in large part to its starring role in Smokey and the Bandit. While Burt Reynolds led the film, the black and gold car often stole the show, becoming a dream machine for a generation. Even 45 years later, its appeal endures, and a new digital concept aims to bring that classic into the modern age.

HotCars digital artist Rostislav Prokop has created a rendering that reinterprets the iconic muscle car. The concept keeps the original's black paintwork and subtly tweaks the gold trim, while the famous firebird emblem remains. The overall silhouette, twin rectangular headlights, and front end are preserved, but the design adds a more prominent front bumper with larger vents, giving the car a lower, more aggressive stance.

Side skirts and vents complement the front changes.

At the rear, wide arches and a deeper bumper house modern diffusers, while the taillights keep their original shape but gain a futuristic LED surround. The rendering is a striking vision that many gearheads would likely welcome in production form.

6-liter V8 was not known for blistering performance by today's standards. 2-liter supercharged V8 from the Camaro ZL1, potentially producing 1,000 horsepower and rivaling modern performance icons. It's a digital dream, but it shows plenty of promise.
