Detailer Takes on a “Disaster Level” Chevy Blazer and the Owner Can’t Believe the Result

Detailer Takes on a “Disaster Level” Chevy Blazer and the Owner Can’t Believe the Result

A 2019 Chevrolet Blazer recently showed up at a detailing shop in such rough shape that the detailer admitted he didn’t want to know what some of the interior stains were. The SUV, featured in a YouTube video by The Detail Geek, had over 127,000 kilometers (about 79,000 miles) on it, mostly driven on gravel roads.

The paint was swirled, scratched, and covered in rock chips from years of unpaved driving.

The exterior was caked in dirt, with the tailgate channel packed solid with compacted grime and wheel barrels holding about an inch of mud. The front end was coated in bug residue that had baked on for an entire summer, requiring a dedicated bug remover before a foam wash could reveal the shiny black paint underneath.

The interior was even worse. The detailer called the floor mats “insanely dirty” and said the rear carpet sections were among the dirtiest he had ever seen. He pulled the front seats to access the carpet, which had trapped dirt like Velcro. He set a goal of getting it about 95% clean.

After vacuuming, he sprayed cleaning solution on the stains, agitated it with a drill brush, and cleaned the seats with an all-purpose cleaner and steam. The door panels and dashboard were also coated in sticky grime and treated the same way. He finished with an interior protectant and cleaned the windshield with a waffle-weave towel.

After roughly 12 hours of work, the owner returned and reacted with disbelief. “Oh, my god. ” Looking inside, she said, “It’s like brand [new]. Wow. ” She explained that gravel driving is “really hard” on the vehicle, making it dirty and dusty on a regular basis.
