Dashcam Shows Driver Fleeing Suspected Hijackers as Passenger Jumps from Moving Car

A wild dashcam video making rounds online captures a driver’s split-second decision to floor it in reverse as a suspected carjacker charges his vehicle, leaving his own passenger to bail out and vanish into roadside brush. The footage, shared on social media this week, shows two men driving down a narrow two-lane road.

Suddenly, a white car pulls up behind them and stops. A passenger leaps out and runs aggressively toward the camera car. The driver doesn’t hesitate: he slams the gear into reverse and guns it. The passenger door swings open, and his companion scrambles out of the moving car, disappearing into the bushes.

The driver completes a U-turn, shifts into drive, and speeds away on the winding road. Once clear, he picks up his phone and takes a call, one hand on the wheel.

The instinct to flee is hard to fault. Road rage and carjackings can turn deadly in seconds. Rosemary Martin, a driver who survived a 2026 road rage incident in North Las Vegas where a Tesla’s occupants flashed a gun, told News3LV: “I just was thinking this is my life. ” But the phone call after the escape is a different story.

According to NHTSA data, distracted driving killed 3,275 people and injured over 324,000 in 2023 alone. Research from the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute also shows that emotionally agitated drivers face a tenfold increase in crash risk. Reaching for a phone immediately after a high-speed escape on a winding road is about the worst possible time to add that danger.

What the clip makes clear, regardless of how the confrontation started, is how quickly a routine drive can turn into a life-or-death situation, and how little time anyone has to make the right call. At Boca Auto Care, we know that staying safe behind the wheel means staying focused.

Whether it’s a routine commute or an unexpected threat, keeping both hands on the wheel and your mind on the road is the best move you can make.
