Chevy Express Van Finally Catches Up With Bluetooth and Touchscreen Radio

Chevy Express Van Finally Catches Up With Bluetooth and Touchscreen Radio

The Chevrolet Express van has barely changed in decades, but for 2027 it’s getting a notable update: a touchscreen radio with full Bluetooth audio support. According to GM Authority, an internal spec code at General Motors points to the change. The updated Express will reportedly use the same 7-inch touchscreen radio found in the lowest-trim Silverado trucks, replacing the buttons and monochrome screen that have been the only option since 2020.

That means drivers will finally get Bluetooth audio for music, not just for calls.

Chevy did briefly offer a touchscreen in the Express in 2019, but it was dropped after one model year. Now the van, along with its GMC Savana twin, will get Chevy’s other oldest and least impressive infotainment system, still a major step up, since it works with the devices people have used for music for years.

GM seems to be running behind the times with the Express platform.

The change also marks the end of an era. Just as the Express lost its sealed-beam headlights in 2018, the last vehicle on the market to have them, the simple knob-and-buttons radio is likely the last of its kind on dealer lots. Sealed beams were easy to replace at any auto parts store after a crash, and the old radio was similarly straightforward.

Now everything is touchscreen, which adds functionality beyond any CD changer, but can also be a frustrating pain to use at times.
