Cadillac Recalls Every Vistiq Over Third-Row Seat Safety Issue

Cadillac has issued a recall covering every single Vistiq SUV sold so far, and the problem is hiding in the third row. According to documents posted by federal safety regulators, the seats in the back may not lock properly into place, which could cause them to tip forward during a crash.
That’s a serious risk for passengers seated there, and it’s prompted GM to act quickly.
The issue affects all Vistiq models currently on the road—no production dates or trim levels are spared. Cadillac discovered the flaw during internal testing, where engineers found that the seat’s latch mechanism could fail to engage fully. If the seats aren’t locked, they won’t hold up under the forces of a collision, leaving rear occupants vulnerable.
GM says it’s not aware of any crashes or injuries tied to the defect, but the company isn’t taking chances.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the third-row seat latch assemblies at no cost to owners. Cadillac plans to notify affected customers by mail starting next month. In the meantime, owners who use the third row regularly should check that the seats click into place firmly before driving.
If you’re unsure, you can visit the NHTSA recall website and enter your VIN to see if your Vistiq is included.
