Building a $103,000 BMW X5: Here’s What You Get for Your Money

Building a $103,000 BMW X5: Here’s What You Get for Your Money

S. configurator for the 2027 X5, and we couldn’t resist clicking every option box we could find. The result? A six-figure SUV that starts at $74,100 and balloons to $103,049 when fully loaded. For now, only the X5 40 xDrive is available to build, with a rear-wheel-drive version, a plug-in hybrid, an all-electric iX5, and a V8-powered M60 all set to join the lineup over the next year.

Deliveries for the 40 xDrive begin in October.

Our maxed-out build started with Tanzanite Blue II Metallic paint, a $1,950 Individual color, and 23-inch M Aero Polygon wheels, the largest factory rims ever fitted to an X5, at $1,000. Inside, we splurged $3,100 on Vintage Coffee Merino leather with an Alcantara headliner. The $2,800 Climate Package added heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, plus heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and even radiant heating for the door panels.

We also tacked on the $1,450 Technology Package for a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and the $2,500 Driving Assistance Professional Package, which enables hands-free driving up to 85 mph.

A few quirks: every early X5 comes with a $650 Individual Clear & Bold option that includes real crystal glass for the start-stop button and seat controls. BMW says you can remove that later, but not yet. We also added a $750 trailer hitch, a $250 white steering wheel (which requires the Smoke White interior), and the $7,649 Ultimate Care+ maintenance plan.

The grand total crossed six figures, but once the V8 M60 and electric iX5 arrive, that ceiling will only rise higher.
