Brembo Unveils Boldika Calipers for Heavy-Duty Trucks and Large SUVs

Brembo Unveils Boldika Calipers for Heavy-Duty Trucks and Large SUVs

Brembo has introduced a new six-piston fixed front brake caliper called Boldika, designed specifically for heavy-duty trucks and large SUVs. The caliper is the company's first to combine aluminum and cast iron in a six-piston design, with aluminum outer halves and a cast iron center for strength.

Brembo says these calipers can deliver 8,500 newton-meters of braking torque, making them the most powerful units the company has offered for non-commercial vehicles.

The Boldika's first application is on the Chevy Silverado EV Stars and Steel Edition, which is already on sale. These calipers are designed to fit under 20-inch wheels, but the Silverado EV uses massive 24-inch rims. The calipers are painted in GM's Torch Red and carry both Chevrolet Performance and Brembo branding, with matching rear calipers.

The Silverado EV weighs close to 9,000 pounds and can tow up to 12,500 more, so strong brakes are essential.

Brembo notes this is its first entry into heavy-duty pickup brakes. The Boldika will be available on other trucks and SUVs in the future, for both electric and internal-combustion models. It's likely they'll appear on other full-size GM EVs, such as the Cadillac Escalade IQ, and possibly on next-generation Silverado HD and Sierra HD trucks.

The name Boldika combines "bold" and "like" to reflect the caliper's assertive engineering approach.
