Brake Booster Recall: Four Years, No Notice - Italy-Only or Everywhere?

Brake Booster Recall: Four Years, No Notice - Italy-Only or Everywhere?

An ML/GL/R-Class (W164/X164/W251) owner is asking drivers in other countries whether Mercedes ever actually contacted them about the brake booster recall. The campaign was announced in 2022, and Mercedes reportedly advised against driving the vehicle until it was inspected. The owner says their car had two open campaigns: the airbag recall and the brake booster recall.

They got an official notice for the airbag one and dealt with it right away, but the brake booster recall stayed open for about four years without any notification. They found out only by chance at the dealer. Their data was in the system all along, since the airbag notice came through it.

They also say they brought the car in with an intact windshield, and after the brake booster work it cracked from the lower edge in the work area, with no impact point. Mercedes-Benz Italia refused to accept responsibility, they say, without ever inspecting the car and based on a document they won't disclose.

The owner is now asking others: Were you notified? How long did it take? And did Mercedes inspect your car or just deny your claim?
