Boca Raton Council and CRA Set to Tackle Downtown Plans, Water Quality, and Nuisance Animals

Boca Raton Council and CRA Set to Tackle Downtown Plans, Water Quality, and Nuisance Animals

Boca Raton’s city government is back in session next week with back-to-back meetings Monday and Tuesday, covering everything from downtown parking and park master plans to ‘forever chemicals’ in the water and a proposed ban on feeding iguanas and pigeons. m. m. Both are open to the public at the 6500 Building and streamed online.

On Monday, the CRA board will hear two presentations: one from the Boca Raton Museum of Art and another offering a follow-up on downtown parking and a related license agreement. That discussion continues a long-running conversation about how to manage parking as the city’s core grows.

Tuesday’s council agenda is packed with resolutions, including a vote on engineering services for PFAS treatment pilot testing, approval of a Community Development Block Grant action plan, and a contract for emergency repairs to water, wastewater, and stormwater lines. Council will also rank firms competing for the Downtown Civic Area and Memorial Park Master Plan.

Two ordinances are up for introduction. One would amend the Downtown Plan to give long-term stability to CRA-owned properties like Mizner Park. The other would prohibit feeding iguanas, rats, mice, and pigeons, with code enforcement able to issue citations on the spot. Both ordinances will return for public hearings before final votes.

Full agendas are posted on the city’s website.
