Boca Lago Development Plan Revised, But Residents Remain Skeptical

A revised development plan for the Boca Lago golf course community has been unveiled, with Lennar Homes reducing the number of proposed townhomes by 40%. The new plan calls for 463 townhomes, down from the initial 762, and includes a modified 18-hole golf course with a new driving range.

Despite the revisions, opposition to the project remains strong, with residents citing concerns over traffic congestion and the impact on the community. The privately owned country club at Boca Lago has been seeking to sell off part of the course for development for years, but the plan has faced resistance from residents who value the golf course and the character of the community.

Lennar Homes has been meeting with residents to address their concerns and has proposed separate recreational amenities for the new development. However, many residents remain unconvinced, and protests have been held outside the country club to urge that the project be rejected.

With the project set to come before the county commission for review later this year, the fate of the Boca Lago development remains uncertain. As the community awaits a decision, one thing is clear: the revised plan has done little to alleviate the concerns of residents who are determined to protect their neighborhood.
