Boca Auto Care Explains: Ford’s Mustang Mach-E Recall Targets Power Loss and Rollaway Risks

Ford has issued a sweeping recall for over 12,000 Mustang Mach-E electric SUVs after discovering two separate safety glitches: one that could cause a sudden loss of drive power, and another that might let the vehicle roll away even when parked. The recall covers 2021 through 2023 model year vehicles, and Boca Auto Care is here to help local owners understand what’s going on.
The first problem involves a software error in the battery energy control module. Under certain conditions, the module can misread voltage levels and shut down the high-voltage battery while the car is moving. That means you could lose propulsion without warning. The second issue is with the parking pawl, a mechanical lock inside the transmission.
In some cars, a manufacturing defect can prevent the pawl from engaging fully, leaving the car free to roll on a hill even after you’ve shifted into Park.
Ford dealerships will update the battery control software and, if needed, replace the faulty parking pawl assembly at no cost. Owners can also check their vehicle’s status using Ford’s recall lookup tool. If you drive a Mach-E and have questions about these repairs or any other service needs, stop by Boca Auto Care.
