Boca Auto Care Alert: Ford and Lincoln SUVs Recalled for Faulty Second-Row Seats

If you drive a recent Ford Explorer or Lincoln Aviator, listen up. Ford has issued a recall affecting thousands of these popular SUVs due to a problem with the second-row seats. The issue stems from a manufacturing defect that could cause the seatback to suddenly recline or the seat to detach from the floor during a crash, putting passengers at greater risk of injury.
The recall covers certain 2020 through 2024 model year Ford Explorers and 2020 through 2023 Lincoln Aviators. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the seat frame may not have been properly welded at the factory. Over time, or in an accident, that weld can break.
Ford says it’s aware of a handful of reports related to the problem but no injuries have been confirmed so far.
Owners can expect to receive official notification letters starting in late March. The fix is straightforward: dealers will inspect the second-row seat assembly and, if needed, replace the entire seat frame at no cost. In the meantime, if you own one of these vehicles and notice any unusual movement or noise from the rear seats, it’s smart to get it checked out right away.
As always, Boca Auto Care is here to help. We can run a recall check on your vehicle and handle any necessary repairs or inspections, even if you didn’t buy your SUV from us. Stop by or give us a call, we’ll make sure your family rides safe and sound.
