BMW X5 M Electric Renderings: Upper Grille Confirmed, Lower Half Still a Guess

BMW X5 M Electric Renderings: Upper Grille Confirmed, Lower Half Still a Guess

BMW recently showed just enough of the upcoming G95 X5 M's front end to confirm it won't share the iX5's flat, horizontal kidney grille. Based on spy shots, the M Concept Neue Klasse show car, and BMW's current design language, these renderings offer a fuller picture of what the production electric X5 M might look like, though they remain illustrations until BMW officially reveals the car.

The upper grille section is a confident guess, drawn directly from recent spy photos showing a raised, three-dimensional surround that stands taller and more upright than anything on the iX3 or iX5. The lower section, however, is speculative. The renderings use a closed, traditional kidney shape, but BMW could easily go with a wide, low kidney paired with a separate horizontal intake.

The yellow, X-shaped daytime running lights are taken straight from the spy shots, matching the confirmed M Yellow Lights treatment on the X5 M60e.

The front apron borrows from the M Concept Neue Klasse, including three-dimensional track lights in the outer bumper corners. The bumper itself is more aggressive than current X5 or iX5 offerings, with sharper cutlines and more intakes for cooling batteries, motors, and brakes. Side winglet door handles carry over from the Neue Klasse lineup.

The rear largely follows the X5's taillight graphic, with slight changes to make the M version distinct. The rear bumper is pipeless, as there's no engine to route exhaust through.

Power is expected to come from four motors, one per corner, using BMW's M eDrive control software instead of a mechanical differential. Output is rumored to be between 800 and 900 hp, though it could reach the 900 hp range. For reference, the XM Label Red makes 748 hp. BMW will keep the X5 M name rather than using an i prefix, as confirmed by M boss Frank van Meel.

Production is expected to start in April 2028 at Spartanburg, with the X5 M arriving last in a rollout that includes the base iX5, M60e, X5 M60, and iX5 M70.
