The recall covers select 2020 to 2023 models, including the 5 Series, 7 Series, X5, X6, X7, and several Z4 and Supra variants. BMW says the problem stems from an improperly sealed component that can allow moisture to enter the electrical system. While no injuries have been reported, the company has received several reports of smoke and melting near the pump.

For drivers in Boca Raton, the first step is to check your vehicle identification number (VIN) on BMW's recall website or call your local dealer. Repairs are free and expected to take about an hour. Until then, the safest bet is to park your BMW in an open area, not inside a garage.
