BMW Recall Balloons: Fire Risk Prompts Addition of 318,000 More Vehicles

BMW is expanding a recall tied to engine fire risks, now affecting more than 318,000 vehicles across multiple models. The latest move adds to an earlier batch of recalled cars, as the automaker investigates a potential defect that could cause underhood fires. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until repairs are made.

The recall covers certain 2012-2018 models equipped with a specific engine type. BMW dealers will inspect and, if needed, replace a component that may short-circuit. The company says it is aware of a small number of fire incidents, though no injuries have been reported. Affected owners will receive notification by mail, and repairs will be performed at no charge.
