BMW Adds Cheaper iX3 30L Base Model, But It's Only for China

BMW is rolling out a new entry-level version of its electric iX3 SUV, but it's not coming to most global markets. The iX3 30L, introduced alongside the pre-sales launch of the long-wheelbase model in China, is the most affordable option in the lineup, priced at RMB 269,900 (about $40,000 or €34,300).

8 seconds to hit 62 mph. 9 seconds). Top speed is also limited to 112 mph, compared with 124 mph for the 40L and 130 mph for the 50L.

The 30L comes with a smaller 77-kWh battery pack, down from 86.9 kWh in the 40L and 113.4 kWh in the 50L. On China's more lenient CLTC cycle, it's rated for 391 miles of range, 45 miles less than the 40L and 180 miles less than the flagship 50L.

Chinese buyers save about RMB 30,000 (roughly $4,500 or €3,800) compared with the 40L, and RMB 70,000 (about $10,400 or €8,900) versus the 50L. These prices are uniform across the country and exclude optional equipment.

BMW hasn't announced any plans to sell the standard-wheelbase iX3 30 outside China. The long-wheelbase version will reach other markets, but not Europe or North America. Meanwhile, the regular iX3 lineup is expected to expand with an iX3 40 xDrive and an iX3 M60 before the X3 M arrives in 2027.
