Australian Farmer's Toyota Land Cruiser Hits 999,999 km on Original Engine and Gearbox

Australian Farmer's Toyota Land Cruiser Hits 999,999 km on Original Engine and Gearbox

A 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Sahara has proven the brand's reputation for durability, according to a report from Carscoops. The vehicle, bought new in April 2010, was driven 999,999 kilometers over 16 years by Gary Driscoll, a rural grain and livestock trader from Victoria, Australia.

5-liter twin-turbo diesel V8 engine, producing 195 kilowatts (265 horsepower) and 650 newton-meters of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive. Driscoll credited regular long-distance driving and consistent servicing for the lack of major breakdowns.

His service book shows exactly 100 dealer stamps, with maintenance performed every 10,000 kilometers.

In November 2025, Driscoll retired the vehicle, deliberately stopping at 999,999 kilometers, one kilometer short of the seven-figure mark. He handed the car to the Horsham Toyota dealership as a demonstration of longevity. Toyota did not officially confirm whether this specific vehicle is an Australian mileage record-holder, but noted that several customer cars have surpassed one million kilometers over the years.

The report also mentions that U.S. President Donald Trump recently criticized electric vehicles and called their owners crazy, though this is unrelated to the Toyota story.
