Audi’s New A2 EV Takes Aim at Lucid’s Efficiency Crown

Audi has teased the return of its compact A2, showing a production-ready prototype covered in abstract vinyl graphics. The new A2 E-Tron keeps the original’s distinctive rounded roof and kammback tail, but adds a sportier, more aggressive look with a lower nose and swept-back windshield.
The version displayed includes an efficiency package that achieves a drag coefficient of 0.24, making it the most aerodynamic Audi ever sold. That beats the Nissan Leaf’s 0.25-0.26 figure. The design uses air curtains, covering panels, and pull-tab door handles instead of conventional ones.
3. The preview model has a 61 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery (58 kWh usable) with 400-volt architecture and DC fast charging up to 105 kW. It pairs with a rear-mounted 188-horsepower motor featuring silicon carbide semiconductors and low-friction oil.
47. S. Other powertrains include a 228-hp option and a 322-hp top variant, both rear-wheel drive.
Full details arrive this fall, with orders opening shortly after and deliveries before year-end. Audi has not confirmed U.S. availability, and the car’s German production and lack of American history suggest it may stay in Europe.
