Audi RS6 Avant: The 621-HP Wagon That Hits 150 MPH in a Blink

The Audi RS6 Avant may look like a family station wagon, but it's anything but ordinary. 7 seconds. 8 lb/hp.
The test car, priced at $160,390 as equipped (base: $145,345), rode on Continental SportContact 7 tires and featured massive 17.3-inch front and 14.6-inch rear carbon-ceramic brakes. Despite its low ride height and blacked-out trim that make it easy to mistake for a standard wagon, this Audi is anything but ordinary.
During the launch procedure, the Avant impressed with simplicity. Setting the drive mode to Dynamic and the stability control to Sport, then stomping both pedals triggered the launch control message, and the wagon shot off like someone late for an appointment. However, the braking performance was less stellar, coming to a stop from 150 mph took 622 feet, a so-so result given the car's big front rotors.
The article also highlights tester Elana Scherr's journey from art school to automotive journalism, noting her award-winning work with Car and Driver, including a 2020 Best Feature from the Motor Press Guild and a 2023 first-place win from the Los Angeles Press Club.
