Audi Goes Supersized: 2027 Q9 and SQ9 Take the Crown as New Flagships

Audi just dropped its biggest SUVs ever, and they’re aiming straight at the BMW X7. Mercedes GLS, and Range Rover. The 2027 Q9 and SQ9 are three-row behemoths that push the Q7 down a notch in the lineup. 6-inch wheelbase, these monsters stretch nearly 10 inches longer than today’s Q7 and sit almost 3 inches taller.
S. market in mind. Audi expects two-thirds of production to land here, the Q9 and SQ9 replace the A8 and S8 sedans as the brand’s new flagship models.
9-second sprint to 60 mph and a 7,700-pound towing capacity. 8 seconds. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive, but the SQ9 adds a rear-biased setup, an electronic locking rear diff, and brake torque vectoring. 5 inches of ride-height adjustability and 10 inches of ground clearance.
Inside, the Q9 offers 2-3-2 or 2-2-2 seating with power adjustments on all rows. 3-inch passenger screen dominate the dash, while a Bang & Olufsen 4D system with 22 speakers and vibrating seats elevates the experience. Audi also toned down the gloss-black plastic, opting for matte finishes and wood trims.
On the outside, smooth surfaces replace sharp creases, and the lighting tech is wild: matrix LED headlights, curved OLED taillights, and ground-projection turn signals. The SQ9 adds a honeycomb grille and sport exhaust. S. showrooms beginning late this year.
