America’s Best-Selling Cars, Trucks, and SUVs Through Mid-2026

America’s Best-Selling Cars, Trucks, and SUVs Through Mid-2026

We’re halfway through 2026, and the sales numbers are in for the first six months. The usual heavy hitters still dominate the top of the chart, but a few fresh faces have muscled their way into the bottom of the top 25. Our latest roundup shows which models are pulling ahead and which are losing steam.

A quick change this year: instead of relying on Automotive News estimates for brands that don’t share individual model sales, we’ve switched to data from Cox Automotive. For more on the broader market, check out our separate breakdown of the biggest winners and losers so far in 2026.

This list was compiled by Caleb Miller, who started writing about cars at 13 and later turned that passion into a career at Car and Driver after graduating from Carnegie Mellon. He’s a fan of oddball vehicles, he dreams of owning a Nissan S-Cargo one day, and keeps a close eye on motorsports.

Other stories this month include the 2027 Land Rover Defender dropping its turbo four, a spec guide for the 2027 Chevy Corvette, news that VW may cut its global lineup in half, and Toyota’s decision to delay the 2027 Highlander EV.
