Alfa Romeo Sets the Record Straight: Giulia and Stelvio Aren't Going Anywhere

After a week of swirling rumors and a leaked internal presentation that seemed to write off two of Alfa Romeo’s most beloved models, the Italian automaker has stepped in to quiet the speculation. Reports from France suggested the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV had been shelved, with only the subcompact Junior appearing on a company slide.
Then Reuters added fuel to the fire, quoting the brand as “still assessing” the future of its larger vehicles. S. spokesperson has now told CarBuzz that reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.
In a statement, the company confirmed that “future evolutions” of both the Giulia and Stelvio are in the works, along with a new C-segment hatchback and a refreshed Junior. The clarification comes after a January interview where CEO Santo Ficili revealed that replacements for the Stelvio and Giulia had been pushed back by two years, originally slated as fully electric models for 2025.
That delay, paired with an investor day presentation that omitted the two nameplates, sparked understandable confusion. But the official word is clear: these cars are not being canceled.
The timeline remains fuzzy, Alfa hasn’t said whether these “future evolutions” will be full redesigns or major refreshes, but the commitment is there. Stellantis has positioned Alfa Romeo as a key regional brand, and with just 73,000 vehicles sold globally last year, the company can’t afford to alienate loyal Giulia and Stelvio buyers.
For now, the current models will stay in production through 2027, giving engineers time to get the next generation right. It’s not the cleanest roadmap, but Alfa is making it clear: the story isn’t over yet.
