Acura Unveils Nexera Vision Concept, Teasing the Look of Its Next-Generation Models

Acura marked its 40th anniversary with a series of special vehicles this year, but the highlight arrived at the 2026 Monterey Car Week: the Acura Nexera Vision concept. The two-door show car is described by the brand as a design exercise previewing future exterior and interior styling, starting with the fourth-generation RDX crossover expected in the coming years.

" The official stance is that the Nexera Vision sets the design language for upcoming Acura models. Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura's Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design, said the 40th anniversary serves as a springboard to the future, with the concept defining performance through disciplined proportions, sculpted form, and integrated technology.

The concept features butterfly doors, a first for Acura, plus active aerodynamics and a "phantom lighting" technique that highlights the body's surfacing. The new A-shaped ultra-thin headlights and taillights are confirmed to appear on production vehicles, starting with the RDX.

The car rides on 22-inch center-lock wheels, another first for Acura, with carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes.

Inside, the cockpit has a fixed driver's seat with a lower seating position, while the pedal box and steering wheel adjust to the driver. The black-and-white cabin uses sustainable materials like recycled aluminum, Alcantara with post-consumer recycled polyester, and CircuLeather, a genuine leather designed for a circular material lifecycle.

Tsuchida noted that sustainability is increasingly shaping premium quality and performance, helping reduce carbon footprint while challenging conventional ideas of what premium means.

The concept was designed at Acura Design California in Los Angeles under Tsuchida's direction. Whether the butterfly doors or active aero reach production remains unconfirmed, but the lighting elements and overall design direction are slated to appear on future models.
