Acura Nexera Vision Concept Previews New Design Direction, Starting with 2028 RDX Hybrid

Acura has revealed the Nexera Vision concept, a design study that will shape the look of its future production models, beginning with the next-generation RDX Hybrid expected for the 2028 model year. The sleek coupe, unveiled ahead of its public debut at The Quail during Monterey Car Week, was designed at Acura's Los Angeles studio under creative director Yasutake Tsuchida, who took the role in 2025.
The concept features a low-slung body with smooth surfacing, butterfly doors, an active rear spoiler, and forged carbon-fiber accents on the bumpers and side sills. Its standout feature is "phantom lighting," where the headlights and taillights are invisible when off, appearing to glow through the bodywork when turned on.
The lighting graphic uses two inward-pointing LED lines to mimic Acura's caliper-inspired "A" logo.
Acura didn't specify a powertrain, but the concept has no visible exhaust pipes and was seen moving under electric power. It rides on the brand's first 22-inch centerlock wheels, which feature a matte anodized finish and carbon-fiber inserts. The interior is driver-focused, with a single curved screen, fixed seats integrated into the floor, and minimal physical controls.
Materials include leather, Alcantara, recycled aluminum, and subtle pink accents in ambient lighting and seatbelt undersides.
While the lighting technology itself may be years away from production, the design language will reach showrooms soon. Acura previously showed a Hybrid SUV prototype, presumed to be a preview of the next RDX. The Nexera Vision is strictly a design study with no production plans.
