Former Volvo Designer Creates Electric Wagon Concepts

Former Volvo Designer Creates Electric Wagon Concepts

A former Volvo designer has created two digital concepts for a potential next-generation wagon. The V77 and XC77 concepts, designed by Julien Fesquet, draw on Bauhaus design principles and the work of Dieter Rams. Both concepts are three-door shooting brakes with a low nose and an aerodynamic roofline.

The V77 is a road-focused wagon, while the XC77 adds crossover cues with a lifted stance. The designs feature clean surfaces, restraint, and minimalism, with a covered grille and a reduced Volvo emblem. The concepts also propose the use of recycled fabrics and an unpainted body.

No specifications have been released, but the lack of cooling vents and tailpipes suggests an all-electric powertrain. Volvo recently ended production of the V60 and V90, but the company's chief technology officer has confirmed that the new SPA3 platform can support low-slung body styles.

The creation of these concepts offers a glimpse of what a potential future wagon could look like.
