A 999,999-Km Land Cruiser Heads to Auction, With the 1,000,000th Km Left for Its Next Owner

A single-owner 2009 Land Cruiser 200 Series Sahara is going under the hammer with 999,999 km on the clock, and a genuine question mark over what the odometer does after that. Toyota couldn't confirm whether it's the highest-mileage Land Cruiser in Australia, though the company says several customer vehicles there have passed one million km.
The SUV was bought new in April 2010 by Gary Driscoll, a grain and stock agent from Nhill, Victoria. For 16 years he averaged more than 180 km a day on rural roads and highways, then retired it in November 2025 just one kilometer short of a seven-digit reading. 5-liter V8 biturbo diesel, still paired with the factory six-speed automatic and full-time 4WD system.
The service history includes 100 dealer stamps, or roughly one checkup every 10,000 km.
Driscoll parked the Cruiser about 300 m before the million mark, leaving the final stretch for the next buyer. The auction is at Auctions Plus; the truck wears a bull bar and auxiliary LEDs, and its owner expects it to bring AU$20,000-30,000. Whether the odometer resets to zero or freezes at 999,999 remains to be seen.
