2027 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Refreshed With Sharper Looks and More Power

Volkswagen has unveiled the second-generation 2027 Atlas Cross Sport, a redesigned two-row variant of its popular Atlas SUV. The new model arrives about four months after the redesigned three-row Atlas was revealed, and it aims to build on the success of the original Cross Sport, which has sold over 220,000 units since launching two years after the Atlas debuted in 2017.

S. lineup between the Tiguan and the Atlas, and it has proven popular, accounting for roughly 30% of total Atlas sales. 6-inch length as its predecessor but features a sleeker roofline, new paint options like Dark Sage Metallic, and a cleaner exterior design that some may find more attractive than the larger Atlas.

0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 282 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, a 13-horsepower increase over the old model. It pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive optional. Towing capacity reaches 5,000 pounds when equipped with a trailer hitch.

Fuel economy figures are not yet available, though VW says they are improved.

9-inch or 15-inch touchscreen, with the larger unit expected in 90% of models. The interior offers 30-color ambient lighting on higher trims, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. A pair of wireless chargers with MagSafe-style pads sits in the center console, and physical door handles return.

Safety features include Travel Assist adaptive cruise control with lane-changing capability, Emergency Assist Plus, and seven airbags. Volkswagen plans to introduce a hybrid version during the model's mid-cycle refresh. Pricing and full specifications will be announced closer to the Cross Sport's early 2027 on-sale date.
