2027 Toyota Tundra: Subtle Updates and a New Trailhunter Package

Toyota’s third-generation Tundra has had a rocky ride since its 2021 debut. The brand swapped its legendary V8 for twin-turbo six-cylinder engines, one a hybrid, but reliability issues have tarnished the model’s reputation. Still, more than 100,000 buyers annually keep the Tundra in the game.
Now, for 2027. Toyota is rolling out a mild refresh with barely noticeable styling tweaks (think revised bumpers and grilles), a larger standard infotainment screen, a built-in dash cam, and an expanded safety suite. The biggest news? A new Trailhunter package aimed at budget-conscious off-roaders.
The Trailhunter package, based on the SR5 trim, adds Old Man Emu suspension, Michelin LTX Trail tires, underbody protection, a locking rear diff, crawl control, and bronze wheels. Toyota positions it as a more affordable alternative to the TRD Pro, competing with Ford’s Tremor and Chevy’s Trail Boss.
For shoppers who don’t need extreme rock-crawling gear but want trail-ready capability straight from the factory, this package hits a sweet spot. The Tundra lineup still spans from work-truck SR to plush Capstone.
Tech upgrades are standard across the board. Every 2027 Tundra gets the 14-inch touchscreen with Toyota’s latest multimedia system, 5G connectivity, and a “Hey Toyota” voice assistant. A built-in dash cam captures 20-second clips automatically. 4-kW inverter for powering tools or gear.
0 is now standard, bundling automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and more. Pricing and on-sale dates haven’t been announced yet, but expect details this fall.
