2026 Lexus RX350h: A Calm, Comfortable Hybrid SUV

2026 Lexus RX350h: A Calm, Comfortable Hybrid SUV

Car and Driver tested the 2026 Lexus RX350h F Sport Design and found a hybrid luxury SUV that prioritizes comfort over speed. 5-liter four-cylinder engine plus electric motors at both axles, making 246 horsepower. 3 seconds, the slowest in its segment, and its brake pedal is mushy, with a 195-foot stop from 70 mph.

Inside, the deeply cushioned, heated, and ventilated front seats are a highlight, and everything is easy to read and reach. 0-inch touchscreen is vivid with large icons, while black open-pore wood appears across the center console and heated steering wheel. One quirk: the standard wireless charger is buried in the center console, easy to forget when exiting.

Fuel economy is a major strength. The RX350h delivered 32 mpg in Car and Driver's 75-mph highway test, with an EPA combined estimate of 36 mpg and an estimated highway range of 560 miles. The F Sport Design AWD test car started at $59,580 and came to $64,600 with options. This version adds sporty bodywork but no handling upgrades.

The RX's relaxed dynamics reward taking it slow, and while it won't excite, it makes a convincing case that slow can be enjoyable.
