2026 Lexus RX Hybrid: More Affordable Plug-In, Same Comfort-First Personality
The 2026 Lexus RX Hybrid is still for buyers who want a calm, cushy, stylish ride rather than a corner-carving sports SUV. It offers three gas-electric powertrains, all with all-wheel drive: the relaxed RX350h, the more powerful RX500h F Sport Performance, and the RX450h+ plug-in hybrid.
The plug-in remains the priciest model, but a new Premium trim drops its starting price to $66,680, almost $6,000 less than last year. It is not the quickest RX Hybrid, though; that title goes to the RX500h.
For 2026, the RX Hybrid gets no major styling or mechanical changes. Wireless phone charging is now standard across the lineup, and the F Sport Handling and F Sport Performance packages can be paired with an Appearance package featuring black 21-inch wheels, black exterior add-ons, and orange brake calipers.
Performance varies widely. 5 seconds for the RX500h. The RX450h+ is EPA-rated at 37 miles of electric-only range, though the publication's highway test managed 30 miles. 5 hours on a 240-volt connection.
Fuel economy is a key strength. The RX350h leads with EPA ratings of 37 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, while the RX500h is rated at 27/28 mpg. The RX450h+ checks in at 36/33 mpg with a combined 83 MPGe rating. On Car and Driver's 75-mph highway loop, the three models returned 32, 28, and 30 mpg, respectively.
Inside, the RX Hybrid seats five in two rows. Cargo space is generous: 11 carry-on suitcases fit behind the second row, and 25 fit with the rear seats folded. 0-inch screen is optional, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. Standard safety features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control with lane centering.
Maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds. Lexus covers the RX Hybrid with a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty, a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty, and one year or 10,000 miles of complimentary maintenance.
