2026 Lexus LX700h Overtrail: Off-Road Focus Comes With Trade-Offs

2026 Lexus LX700h Overtrail: Off-Road Focus Comes With Trade-Offs

The 2026 Lexus LX700h Overtrail is the most off-road-focused model in the current LX lineup, and it arrives with serious hardware. Standard equipment includes front and rear locking differentials, 33-inch Toyo all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, and a front skid plate. There's also a 2400-watt AC outlet and dark exterior trim accents.

The tested model priced at $119,311, which sits midpack for the lineup. The hybrid powertrain combines a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 with an electric motor for 457 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. It hits 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and covers the quarter-mile in 14.2 seconds.

However, the off-road tires bring compromises. " Braking from 70 mph took 198 feet, 16 feet longer than the standard LX700h. Highway noise also increased slightly to 67 decibels.

Fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg combined, with the hybrid battery reducing tank capacity to 18 gallons. In real-world testing, the Overtrail returned 23 mpg on the highway, beating the base hybrid by 3 mpg. The hybrid's main benefit appears to be smooth power delivery rather than significant fuel savings.

Off-road, the LX700h Overtrail shines as a deliberate crawler. Drive modes include Deep Snow, Mud, Sand, Dirt, and Auto, with the Auto setting handling rough terrain without issue. The 6209-pound SUV feels hefty but capable on dirt, clay, and sand. For buyers wanting comfort, capability, and road presence, it delivers for a modest upcharge over the base model.
