10 New Cars That Undercut Slate’s Electric Pickup Price Tag

10 New Cars That Undercut Slate’s Electric Pickup Price Tag

Slate Auto made waves with a $24,950 starting price for its electric pickup, but after adding a $1,450 destination fee, the total lands at $26,400. That’s still below the Ford Maverick’s $28,145 base and far under the Nissan Frontier’s $32,150 entry point. While tariffs and rising truck costs pushed Slate’s sticker higher than initially hoped, the company aims to challenge the trend of expensive pickups.

To show what else that money can buy, we rounded up 10 new cars, all priced below Slate’s out-the-door figure.

Topping the list is the Hyundai Venue at $20,550, a compact crossover that replaces the old subcompact sedan. 6-liter engine delivers 121 horsepower and 31 MPG combined. 2-liter turbo three-cylinder and steel wheels that won’t win beauty contests, but its $23,495 delivered price leaves room for options like heated seats.

0-liter engine and a comfortable ride that outshines its predecessor, the Forte. The Nissan Sentra ($22,600) and Hyundai Elantra ($22,625) round out the mid-range, both with solid interiors and fuel-focused powertrains.

The Nissan Kicks ($22,730) brings a fresh redesign and a tech-heavy cabin, while the Chevy Trailblazer ($23,300) offers all-wheel drive and a choice of turbo engines. The Toyota Corolla ($23,125) stands out with a 169-horsepower engine and a unique physical first gear in its CVT, though its base LE model costs $24,285 delivered.

0-liter and a $25,890 delivered price. Slate’s pickup may be a bargain for a truck, but these cars prove you can still get plenty of new wheels for less.
